Eco Allston, at 75 Brainerd Road in Boston's Allston-Brighton neighborhood, is a five-story apartment building completed in 2014.
Eco was developed by The Mount Vernon Company and designed by Prellwitz Chilinski Associates as part of Allston's Green District, a cluster of energy-efficient apartment buildings that also includes The Edge and The Element. Sustainability shaped the design from the start, with green building features, a planted roof, organic waste recycling, and a green lease commitment for residents, and the district adds solar panels, electric vehicle charging, and on-site car sharing. National Development acquired the three buildings in 2014.
Apartments range from studios to two-bedroom homes, with an emphasis on efficient, well-planned studio and one-bedroom layouts. Interiors include in-unit washers and dryers, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, stainless steel appliances, and high ceilings, and select homes have floor-to-ceiling windows or private patios. The building is smoke-free.
Shared spaces include a 24-hour fitness center, a clubroom, a media room, a work bar, and a rooftop kitchen with grills. Residents also have package receiving, a pet spa, bike storage, and covered garage parking with electric vehicle charging, and pets are welcome.
The building sits a block south of Commonwealth Avenue, near the Griggs Street stop on the Green Line B branch, which runs toward Boston University, Kenmore, and downtown. The restaurants and shops of Harvard Avenue and Brighton Center are a short trip away, and Coolidge Corner in Brookline is close by.
Living in the Green District means access to a walkable stretch of Allston with neighborhood cafes, parks, and the Commonwealth Avenue corridor just steps from home.
For renters who want a modern, sustainability-minded building with a full slate of amenities, Eco Allston offers a comfortable base in one of Boston's liveliest neighborhoods.
