Elevate, formerly Avalon North Point, at 1 Leighton Street in East Cambridge, is a 22-story rental apartment building with 426 residences, completed in 2008.
Archstone built the tower in 2008 as one of the first buildings in the NorthPoint district, now Cambridge Crossing. AvalonBay Communities acquired it in 2013 with Archstone's other properties and ran it as Avalon North Point until 2021, when Blackstone's LivCor bought it together with the neighboring Avalon North Point Lofts. At about 277 feet, it is among the tallest buildings in Cambridge. A renovation completed in 2024, designed by Arrowstreet, rebuilt the lobby and amenity floors and added a sky lounge and terrace on the 21st floor.
Apartments range from studios of about 420 square feet to three-bedroom homes of about 1,500 square feet, with open layouts, modern kitchens and baths, in-unit washers and dryers, and views of the city and the Charles River. The building is smoke-free.
Residents have a front desk concierge, a 24-hour fitness center with a yoga and spin studio, a clubhouse with a kitchen and billiards, conference and work spaces, a rooftop deck and sky lounge, outdoor areas with grills and fire pits, a dog park and pet spa, EV charging, storage lockers, package lockers, and garage parking. A free shuttle runs to Cambridge and North Station.
The relocated Lechmere Green Line station is next door, and the Cambridge Crossing park, the Charles River, and the Museum of Science are a short walk. Kendall Square is about a mile south. The North Point Sierra and Tango condominiums are across the street.
The tower puts full-service rental living beside one of the area's busiest transit stops.
