The Archer Residences, at 45 Temple Street in Beacon Hill, is a seven-story condominium building with 62 residences, completed in 2020 inside two former Suffolk University Law School buildings behind the Massachusetts State House.
Developer Center Court bought the properties in 2015: the 1920s Archer building, a Classical Revival structure, and the later Donahue building, both last used as classrooms. The Architectural Team joined the two six-story buildings, restored the older facade, reclad the modernist building in new brick and granite, and added a penthouse level on the roof. LDa Architecture & Interiors designed the interiors, and Consigli was the general contractor. Because the historic shells set each footprint, the building has 57 different floor plans, and some homes have their own entrances from the street.
Residences range from one-bedroom homes of about 900 square feet to four-bedroom penthouses of nearly 3,500 square feet. Ceiling heights run from 9 to 16 feet, and finishes include rift oak floors, crown moldings, Venato marble kitchens with waterfall islands, and gas fireplaces in select homes. Each of the three penthouses has its own roof deck.
The Archer Residences offers a 24-hour doorman and concierge, a clubroom, a boardroom, a private dining room, a fitness center, a playroom, and a pet spa. A shared roof terrace with fire pits and grills looks out over downtown and the Zakim Bridge. A 50-space valet garage sits below the building, with bike storage on site.
Bowdoin station on the Blue Line is about two blocks away, and Park Street, Government Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the West End are a short walk. The Claflin on Beacon Street is another Beacon Hill condominium close by.
The Archer Residences is one of the largest residential conversions on Beacon Hill and one of the few full-service condominium buildings in the neighborhood.
