The Van Ness Residences, at 1335 Boylston Street in Boston's Fenway neighborhood, is a 13-story rental apartment building with 172 residences, completed in 2015 as part of the Van Ness mixed-use development.
Samuels & Associates developed Van Ness, and Elkus Manfredi Architects designed it. The project pairs two buildings, one residential and one for offices and labs, joined by ground-floor retail anchored by a 170,000-square-foot Target, the first urban Target in Boston. The residences rise nine stories above a four-level retail podium. The design draws on the nearby Emerald Necklace, with a planted green wall in the lobby and terraces throughout, and the building is LEED Gold certified and smoke-free.
Apartments include studios, one- and two-bedroom homes, and penthouse layouts, with studios starting around 430 square feet and two-bedrooms around 1,000. Homes feature floor-to-ceiling windows, stainless appliances, and washers and dryers, and select units have walk-in closets and private terraces. Upper floors look toward Fenway Park and the Brookline hills.
Residents have a 24-hour concierge, a 24-hour fitness center, a landscaped fifth-floor patio, and a rooftop lounge with grilling areas and skyline views. There is also a TV and game room, a conference room, a pet spa, package receiving, and EV charging, with parking in the garage below the complex.
